| Made a mould for the coping and did one test. It is too high and will not fit under the fence...need to make it shorter. Also has some small holes that need crack filler. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Build some kind a wall behind the pond...Behind the center panel will be the bakki, there is a chamber, under the bakki and the water will come into the pond via a water fall. I will just use a piece of glass as a weir. The two short boxes will hold plants. My brains stopped working...so this is all I could come up with. The bricklayer got tired of me asking for straight lines and run away...after I gave him some money. They dont know what a vertical straight line is. No idea! Now I will have to chisel the plaster and get a new bricklayer. The second bricklayer is plastering the top of the filters for the second time, and The height of my filters is just going up, but I dont see any improvement. | Neli, filters are a very personal thing and people have different requirements and financial capabilities.
I dont have a lot of space for filters, I prefer not to get my hands wet or dirty when cleaning filters, it must not use a lot of water to clean and it must not take more than 20min a week. And that sort of dictates the filters that i have according to my budget that i can afford. So for many many years i was stuck on a sand filter that worked well but it wasted alot of water and was a pain to clean - it did not fall into my requirements but i used it cause i could not afford anything better at the time. Now i have moved to a bubble bead, and it does achieve my requirements.Keep in mind that i did not have them from day one. I started with hair curlers and shade netting which was cheap but took up a lot of my time to clean. My time (over weeks and months) is worth more to me than the money that i spent.
But in the end everything works. You have done a good job and everything looks nice and tidy from what i can see. |

| Thanks wayne! I tried to follow the same considerations as U ...water I have plenty...and cheap labour...(one guy looks just after my fish and nothing else!) But I think The way I have automated it, it will take care on its own for part of the cleaning routine. SC I will dump ones a week...since I will have the waste removed on timer from the BD twice a day. Mechanical I am using my Izeki...The way I have designed it it takes 5 min to clean...I believe in O waste going to the bio filter so I think even ones in 3 month cleaning will be all right...In the old filter I cleaned the bio after 4 month and got half a cup of dirt... The bakki will not need cleaning. |

| This is the only ball valve I managed to find in Zambia...he he he! Need one or two for the other side but can not find...any where. Will use stand pipes for the moment, and hope my workers will not drain the pond. But I took several safety measures... The valve is for manual flushing, and the top pipe exiting is for airlift flushing twice a day. The bottom of that pipe is level with the water level in the pond, so that no water escapes . There will be a concrete channel to collect the water and send it to soak away. The blue pipe was put there by mistake....might need to block it...or use it for something. It is connected to one of the returns. The pipe above it for the airlift does not allow a sound pipe to be fitted. Will need to make one bend pipe to fit there when cleaning it, as a stand pipe.i am sure all the mistakes will start coming out now. | I have been trying to make a BD cover today...have no idea how to do it...and if it is not perfect....it will not be seen much...my BD is just too big to find anything to put on top...So I made a mould from wet sand...and put some almost dry concrete inside....hope it will not collapse on me...but will make another one if this does... Just don't laugh please! He he he! My driver making the izeki frames. | Made my waterfall weir today too and tested it...I used glass sandpapered the front bottom edge...made it like a box with no sides in front and behind and two glass strips to hold it on top...tested it today...water is coming out like a sheet...not too bad. There is a box under where the bekki will be...which will collect the water and discharge it through the water fall. Need to cement it now. | Finished painting the pond. It is covered with shade cloth for the paint...that was the instruction...some rays on sun are coming in...so it looks like the floor is not benched well, but it is sloping nicely. Tomorrow I will start painting the filters.
