Hi all, the masking tape on the walls will be the final pond height.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The 2.1m glass panel will run form the column, masking tape height to stoep floor and length wise to the step entrance

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

A view that will not be their much longer once the front pond walls are up. I am not sure if I should use the modern stone cladding on the outside or stick to the face-brick. The inside pond walls will be stone cladding. The pond walls will be extended by another meter to form a boundary wall as per municipal regulations on swimming pools. Depending on the look once build, I might repeat the glass that on the garage top.Any designer out their with some input to this problem.

Hi Pieter

The pond volume is looking to be more that original plan and could even be above 30 000lt, so Wayne beware, you may no longer call it a settlement chamber. I must admit when I feed my Koi, pond 1 now really looks like a settlement chamber and I feel sorry for my bigger Koi.

No one prepared to comment on fiber glassing without the fiber mat?

Again anyone with some architectural advise on the out side wall and cladding is welcome to chirp me!

I am also looking for a specially designed modern entrance gate (plain without frills) to go between wall and the stairs. Not the normal security type.

It's Amazing!!!

Oorspronklik was ek tevrede met so 24 to 25000 nou hoop ek vir so 28 na 30000, alles meer is 'n bonus.

Bobby
I follow this pond building post of yours like a woman glued to a soapy. This will be a stunning pond!
Did you ask Willie van Zyl the architect in your town for his design opinion? That is if he is still there?
If this was my pond I would definitely go for the face brick and glass wall idea, brick only will close the house in and spoil the looks. Nevertheless; well placed areas of cladding will add to the appeal and break the monotony of the brick look. Would like to see the pictures at the stage when the finishing needs to be done, maybe more meaningful comments can then be made.
As for the coating: I found these two sites on Epoxy coatings, sounds comparatively cheap. I am considering this for my swimming pool coating. One of these sound similar to fibreglass without the matting. Any comment on the suitability for swimming pools and Koi ponds?

NS.

Hi Jan
You are making some very valid points and yes I will have to see the overall effect it has on the house once wall is up. I do not know a Willie my house was build by a Willie Volchenk and my designer was a Anton de Klerk from Moreesburg.

I should be able to see the effect by Thursday latest and decide then.

lol!

All I am doing today is planning the week ahead, die WEEPEE het mos klaar verloor. The window next to front door is my new office. I am sitting and pondering down onto the wet-works and trying to make sense of it all.
Due municipal bylaws on swimming pools and boundary building regulations, I have to close off the entrance between wall and steps pond side. I am looking for a modern security designer door option (no frills) or any bright idea to achieve the same end result.

Hi Bobby
I'm very new to this 'game', but I can see an awesome pond in the making! The posts on this forum have made me fanatical about keeping koi. You have maximised available space, and are in the process of creating a masterpiece. I cannot wait to see the final product. I cannot offer technical advice, but can comment on the aesthetics. Your project makes many other pond builders (myself included) exactly...'dam bouers'.
It is, however, a pity you okes can't play rugby.
Regards
Jack

Thanks Jack
We all start somewhere, 2 years ago when I build my first pond, I thought it was the ultimate until I went on my first pond Safari to Johan and Ernst ponds in the Paarl. There is some awesome ponds in the Cape with values of .75 to 1 million and more.
That is why we cannot buy the star players. But be that as it may I still support my WEEPEE

With a budget like that you can buy the whole Bulls team...or the Lions (with Earl Rose). lol!

Is there anyone who knows if there are 'pond safaris' in Pretoria? I've been on the SAKKS website previously, but it seems rather dormant, but perhaps I should pose the question elsewhere on the forum.

Morning Jack.
I see something chased us out of bed early this morning, you beat me by 15 minutes, regarding SAKKS Website they are in the process of updating this site and it should be up and running very soon. I got mail from SAKKS National this week that confirms this. In the mean time you can contact the National Secretary Maria Anna Botha at 082 88 28022 for any information about membership, Koisa magazine, and Pond Safari info.

Alternatively you can apply for a permit to visit Cape Town and see real Ponds and real Koi. Twisted Evil

Bobby, jou pond gaan stunning lyk.

Mag mens by enige klub aansluit, of moet dit by jou plaaslike tak wees?

LOL) so ek moet my storie ken, verder is straat redelik stil.

Jy moet laat weet Desember

Hi Jaco.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
My waarborg is geldig solank as wat die man leef.
