Q, the first thing U need to do is remove those 90* bends...U almost half your flow due to the sand filter and those bends. Do U want to go Pond>pump>SF>bio>pond? That is a very standard configuration. What media do U use as bio? U need to put a blower ( Nev found some for R800 in Jbg) or compressor on the sand filter. U connect the air pipe to the arms inside the SF and it blows air.I have seen Nev's...it takes 4 min and two buttons to wash it clean. I use a compressor for mine. Up and down system is simply containers holding media, the water comes on the bottom of the first, where there is a mesh holding the media above the water entry...and water exits at the top. Since U have only one container and it is very high, I would use some very ood media in it like kaldness, but your container is very big...so U can use even less expensive media...Chris has gravel and some porous stone ...and that is all...His Koi are monsters.. Make sure U have a shelve inside, under the media so it is easy to clean, and make some kind of system with a blower so That it can be blown easily clean. |

| Thank you Neli , I am going to only put 45` on. My system will be pump - sandfilter - boifilter and back to the pond. I have plastic shavings in the bio filter. I a going to ger my self a compressor also to be use on the sand filter. I am also thinking of removing the big jo-jo ? Will see how things go. I am aslo whant to build a waterfall later to so much of planning Regards |

Q, One more thign. Remove the shavings from the onion bags. Just get a piece of shade cloth with large holes, put it in the jojo, and put inside the shavings. Onion bags channel the water...best is loose shavings in a large net, that U can gather on top and remove to wash...I did that to mine. |

Thank you If U want the water to go in at the bottom and come out at the top, why not put the inlet at the bottom???outlet at the top????? What media are planning to use that U have a net on top? Only if U use meadia that floats U need a net on top...like that polisterine ????(white stuff in which TV are put inside the box when U buy them) What is that going to be? Bio or mechanical? What media do U plan to use? Will it be pressure fed or gravity??? Let me know so I can give U few ideas... I can see u like google sketchup too. To make a bend on a pipe make two lines at right angle, put an arch in the corner, delete the straight lines above the arch, make a circle at the bottom of the line perpendicular to the line, and use the round extrusion tool to make the pipe. |

| Hi there Neli ,
This boi filter is 68 liters and it is going to come after my sand filter and i have a lid that cover the tank. Do you think it will be better if the in let is at the bottom?
I am going to use plastic shavings.
It is nice to draw on google sketchup , and thank you for the tips , i will try it out.

| It is better to put the pipe where the water is going...what do U need this pipes in the center for? Look the way a vortex is constructed...Inlet is at the bottom and outlet on top...but no pipes criss crossing...U can put a bend at the bottom on the inlet to spin the water. some ideas for U: Ignore the number of pipes here...just look at the way they are pur. I would use the big container U have...not throw it away...and put another drum inside...but the pictures I posted are by Kent Wallis, used as a prefilter...but it is the same for bio... |

| Quinton, the golden rule with gravity filters is that the output line MUST be double that of the input line. That is so that the filters does not overflow.
Example: 50mm in - 110mm out
If i put all the flow of my EcoTouch on low to my bio vortexes the 110mm line run fulls steam and after about 5min the vortex starts to overflow.
