| Awesome Kohaku Cliff ! Look at that PHAT tail and a mouth that scream FEED ME! I Like the pattern on this one a lot. Sharp kiwa, good sashi and very nice skin from what I can see from the photo. Once again a very good body for such a small fish. |

| Very good looking Kohaku. Its body tell me that is not going to get big but it has the qualities where it matters. I expect a big bodied round koi at 50cm with this one.

| I just want to share my opinion.
This is just a "pattern fish".
I don't think this is a good body shape for a tosai.
And it looks like male to me from the photos. |

| phew...interesting comments!
I was in a hurry to take pics as wanted to get them settled in ASAP
I will be taking pics in a few months again, rather to see how progress is then and will repost.
This fish has a commanding presence for a small fish.
I am hearing it's going to be a big fish from one person then a small fish from another.....rather going to leave this one till December now and post then....thanks again |

| There is a difference between big meaning length wise and big bodied. I am with sas on this one. It is not a bad quality fish, actually very good looking but i think that it is going to balloon. Let see in a few months. Genetics can be a bi#@h...like i have a genetic trade that i inherited to have a nice round body...not much i can do about it. |

| Hi Wayne and sas. You guys obviously don't know the Sakuma bloodline.... or maybe you were just cross with some one when you judged Cliff's fish... |

| Well, that is my opinion at this point in time... Opinion asked, opinion given. I was not negative about Cliffs fish, i highlighted the good and the bad. - wayneb from https://koionline.forumotion.com/t2899p15-shiro-usturi wrote:

The only opinion that counts in the end is your own.

| Wayne, I enjoy your feedback and comments.....as well as anyone elses
I know it is difficult to judge a fish from a photo, I am sure if I posted a video it would be a different story.
Like a said, all comments welcome.....this is how we learn.
When I post progress pics in a few months we will have a better idea then |

| All said their parts. All I have to say is that this is one of the best kohaku's I've seen in a LONG LONG time.
Given the proper care & water this one will reach 70cm in no more than 2 years. If it keeps that quality it'll be a champion.

| A total side track to this topic but do you know how tricky it is to get a tosai to 60cm in good condition in a concrete pond. 60-70cm Is also not easy and i think the show entries proof that. So we generally say that a koi will look x and y at 70cm but most never reach that. If a koi bought as tosai reach 60cm and it still has good condition then that is a achievement in itself. I have a Asagi that is now hitting 80cm this year that i bought at 15cm in 2006. It has taken 6 years to get it to 80cm. Almost lost it on 2008 due to a single ulcer on its abdomen that i never saw. It was 4cm in diameter and at least 1cm deep. |
