| Hi All, Thanks for casting your poll, for your information we are now at this stage. This is the results after a 1,5 minute backwash, using approximately 300 Lt of water. I am hoping for even better results as a further mod is coming up. |

| Hi Chris
I am not yet finished with what I set out to do, you know things change as one goes along. There is still one improvement that we would like to test, before I put my cards on the table.
We just want to make sure that the improvements will be unquestionable and worth while to all koi keepers, those with and those without sand filters.
Our problem presently is that the filters don't get dirty enough this time of year and we don't want to induce dirt it has to be natural.
Don't worry we will keep you informed as we progress. |

| Hi, Interesting -
Neville - you need to know pond volume and pump capacity. This will tell you if the sand filters are being used correctly and if the pump is capable of back washing a sand bed efficiently.
You also need to know if two or more sand filters are used if they are used in parallel or in sequence.

| Hi Chris,
Your fibreglass sand filters that you make. Have you tested the shell to take the pressures of swimming pool pumps and clogged sand beds?
Does your sand filter expand and contract when the pump is switched on and off?
Chris

| Hi Chris
Thanks, yes I am still getting my act together here and will certainly pay you a visit before I finalize my story for some technical info, if you don't mind.
I am just trying to make sand filters a bit more popular. |

| Chris, I sent your questions to Pieter. I'll let you know when he comes back to me. He destributes the filters to swimming pool shops throughout SA. I'm using them on my ponds and they work well. I haven't noticed them expanding or contracting when pump is switched on & off so the answer to that one is no.... |

| Hi all,
Thanks for your positive postings, I enjoyed it very much, and plucked a lot of encouragement from it.
Fortunately today I can say, "YES BOYS IT WORKS". It is now a pleasure to clean a sand filter, can't wait for the damn thing to get dirty.
I did the last test run today and had as critique,s, the Honorable Sand filter king and Cliff also paid a visit.
I will post some more Pic's. Just pushing that bakkie shower now.

| was very impressed watching how this new setup works.......very simple modification yet hugely affective.....cost to implement not too bad either, and with the amount of water you will save on your bill, the return of investment will be seen within a few months. Neville, well done, will be looking into doing this mod by the time summer comes along. Bet this is killing some people....lol ....those details are for Neville to divulge....sorry |

| Hi All, Well here are some pic's as promised, Still have to take pictures of "The Kit" will get one together and work out some cost's. The new finger set and hub, these are a must, they clean the area below the fingers as well. As you can see there is about no slots on the top, all the slots is at the bottom. The air pipe through the casing on the inside The valve and quick coupler on the outside A Before picture This is a normal backwash action, note no muck visible in the flow. Now we add some air at the correct ratio to the pump delivery, they have to be in harmony and not fight each other Result after 1 to 1,5 minutes. I think this will change the way people think about Sand Filters. They get so dirty cause they work so well. The problem always was to clean them. Well that is now rather fun to do, it is sommer lekker. |

Tydens die toetse was daar minimale sand verlies. |
