BIOFilter worms Empty
PostSubject: BIOFilter worms   BIOFilter worms EmptyWed Dec 09, 2009 9:06 pm

HiI found little worms crawling in my biofilter today when I opened it after a fish death last night. The bioballs seems clean I cannot see anything growing on them after 2 months of circulation. My water smells like dam water but it is clear with a yellowish colour. I tested for nitrates etc but all seems normal. Do I have to worry about the little crawling things?

Yes they look exactly like that. I expected my bioballs to be covered with something else after 2 months not crawling with the little creatures. Is my filter then not active if my bioballs still look clean?

You will find bloodworms in your filter. Nothing you can really do about it. They like the dark places where food accumulates.

They are not bad for the system. Ill be more worried if i dont have any somewhere in my system.
