Spot a male Empty
PostSubject: Spot a male   Spot a male EmptyWed Oct 06, 2010 10:39 pm

I am in the same situation as Neville- I need two of my fish to spawn as they have big tummies. So, please no comments about the quality of the fish- I am gradually working on it!

So, I still struggle to identify males to put with the females in a portapool: Size is difficult to judge, as the big white one is nearly 70cm, but looks smaller on these random pics:

1. Spot a male IMG_3407

2. Spot a male IMG_3420
The black and white one is one of the two. I have 2 nice Shiro Utsuris, but they might be too young to use.

3. Spot a male IMG_3419

4. Spot a male IMG_3418

5. Spot a male IMG_3415

6. Spot a male IMG_3414

So, just to emphasize- not for breeding purposes!

Your help please!

Hi Albie

Its easy man.

On picture no 1 the red and black fish is a male

on Picture no 2 the bottom right hand fish is female.

The one at 45 degree to her left is also a male.

Now U will be able to see much better than us, my method used is the shape of the pectoral fins have a look at it, you can clearly see the diff.

Wow now I have stuck my neck out eisch.
