| What do you guys think about Bao Bio Koi Ulcer prevention? For my pond it will cost about R120 per month to add. Is it a good product to try and keep the baddies away in the long term or not worth adding to the pond? As they say prevention is better that cure but I have never used this product before, so maybe someone on here have experience using these tablets.
Info about this product:
Contains naturally occurring bacteria. Prevents the occurrence of bacterial ulcers on Koi. Reduces ammonia, nitrite, nitrate & phosphate. Degrades other organic and inorganic wastes. Works across complete ranges of pH, hardness, salinity and temperature. Is stable and does not require refrigeration. This makes Bao Bio Koi one of those innovations that delivers serious benefits to any Koi pond and has been specifically developed for usage for Koi as a species. It is the bacterial colonies in Bao Bio Koi that reduce the numbers of disease causing bacteria especially Aeromonas spp. and Pseudomonas spp, with the nett result being a prophylactic effect against ulcer disease of Koi. Bao Bio Koi also improves water quality by helping to reduce the levels of wastes in the pond. Removing the nasty bacteria, your Koi's health is improved as its immune system giving you healthy and active pond residents. Bao Bio Koi comes available in two bottles which contain two types of tablets (Bao Bio Koi 1 and Bao Bio Koi 2), each one containing a different formulation. You then dose your pond weekly with one tablet per 10kl of pond water alternating between the two different tablets from week to week. |

| Hi Maruis I use the Bao Bio Koi the pill and the Bao Bio clear for filters after every water change. A Bao expert mentioned at the Durban Show that BaoBio HikuiMed is also very effective on a Ulcer for the actual wound treatment. Please do not forget the value of Uncle Pieter's advice about adding garlic to the food, very effective, it keeps most of the goggas at bay. |

| Hi Marius, Listen to Uncle Roberto, stick with the Garlic, it works and it is no gimmick! When I started with Koi when my hair still had some color, I used all these Bao Bio products. I found that only two products worth using are - the Bao Bio Natural Montmorillonite and Bea Bio Clove oil. The other staff is useless! My experience with this product your post about was very unhappy. I was using this product for more then six months when my Koi became sick, and I lost 37 fish in one week! There is a photo of some fish lost: It did not work for me! Jaco, once told me............"Ading all sort of stuff to your pond could kill you Koi" That was good advice! |

| Thanks for the advise about the garlic. I am sure it will be a winner since I hate adding stuff to pond. Either poison or something worthless. I tried out the garlic on my mad koi since he was struggling to compete for food and this is what I did. I soaked the koi food in water. Added some fresh garlic and mixed it with clay to form a sinking pellet/food and dropped it into pond next to him.
I will search somewhere else on forum to find the correct mixture for garlic food. Thanks again |

| Hi Maruis. This is my penny's worth on adding garlic.
1. Place 2-3 teaspoons of crushed garlic into a plastic cup/tub and pour boiling water over this and leave overnight to cool and to draw like a strong tee. 2. Pour the garlic tee without the bits over about 300-500g of your Koi food, leave for minute or two, dump into a strainer to remove excess tee, leave to dry before feeding. (I prefer not to get pellets too soaked)
You can re-use the garlic bits with boiling water a second time, the second time round I add the garlic bits with the tea water to the food, they love it. |

| Hi Roberto!!!! Is that to tease the fish? ………………..or to scare off the goggas? You need to use something “sticky” ( like honey or Manda Nishiki) to make the garlic stick. I use 30g Robinson Crushed Garlic on 1 kg Food pellets, with Manda Nishiki. (I stop to the use of oil due to the oil firm left on the water.....and that smell ! ) See: http://southafricankoi.11.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=604&highlight=honey http://southafricankoi.11.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=605 http://southafricankoi.11.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=44&highlight=garlic |
