I'm new to the forum but kept koi for 10 years.

I'm in the process of reducing electricity consumption in an attempt to divorce Eskom!

My pond is 50000l and run 2 x Badu EcoTouch pumps which run on low (0.4kw) 24/7.

I was wanting to put the pumps on timers so that they would turn off for a few hours each evening e.g. Pump 1 turn off 18h00 to 22h00 and pump 2 turn off 22h00 - 02h00.

In essence one pump would keep working throughout. Would the bacteria die off in this time?

If the above was possible, how long could I turn pumps off.
