Hello: I am new to this forum, but have kept koi for 20 years. Right now I am experiencing something I have never experienced before. I have a 9 yr. old Butterfly Koi which is having difficulty climatizing herself with spring ... coming out of winter torpor. I live in Toronto, Canada. She lays at the bottom of the pond all night and early morning and by mid day when the water temp. rises ... she acts and eats perfectly normal. I definitely feel that there is nothing wrong with her (disease wise) other than her climatizing herself to spring. However, this has never happened before with her and now, I'm just wondering what will happen come fall, when her metabolism slows down. Will she survive the winter again?
I would dearly love some advice. I only have 3 koi -- two water falls, and I keep the pond water perfect at all times.
Many Thanks.
Carol
