O2 in pond Empty
PostSubject: O2 in pond   O2 in pond EmptyMon Oct 08, 2012 10:00 am

Hi everybody. I need some input from you. Using the normal test kit, my O2 reads 5. I have the following returns - 2 bakki filters, a small waterfall, 2 venture's (temp dissconnected) and 2 air pumps with airstones. Changing any of these, my O2 stays on 5. Would like it a little higher (or is it ok). What should I add/ take away? The air stones run 24/7 at the moment Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Regards

Hi Charl -

1) What is the temperature of the water
2) What is the altitude of your pond? (where do you live)
3) how much salt do you have in your water?

Further questions:
1) where in the pond do you take your reading?
2) Is there circulation in the pond?

Chris

Hi Chris
Thanks for responding.
1 Temp varies between 17.5 - 19.5 at the moment

2 We live in the far east _ Benoni!!!

3 Salt between .17 - .20

I take my readings at the away from the filter area ( in a concave area)

I think by circulation is fairly good.
I am still trying to find a "boffin" to check out my system and advise we what is ok and what is not.
Regards

Hi Charl,

One more thing -
Please take an O2 reading near to the returns or some where else in the system.
Question - do you have some circulation around the pond?
Chris

Morning Chris
I will ask Grumpy to do test in different areas. My bakki filter is on one side of the pond and the little waterfall is on the other side. I now use one air stone in the middle of the pond. I also use 2 points (where venture's used to be)to better my flow.

I think the circulation is fairly good. Obviously there are one or two areas that are not as good. (Small mistake in design)
