Hi Paul,

Very nice sanke, good body, the white and hi look stunning, [What bloodline did you use].

JP, I would not worry about the sumi, it will still go and come as the fish grows.

Very nice.....the hi looks solid, sumi a little too much for me if it comes up where it is showing.

Otherwise looks good

Very nice Paul, I agree with Costa on the sumi. I made a mistake a few months ago with Anver's Sanke and that Sumi cleaned up fantastically, so I am very careful what I say about messy Sumi. Laughing Very Happy

Thanks for all the inputs, always good to see what other people think.

I love a flowing or inazuma Hi pattern and am very happy with the Hi on this koi and a few of it's brothers/sisters. Almost a Showa type of Hi (colorwise) and also sumi underlying on the head which shows that somewhere Showa came into the picture.

I agree that the Sumi is worrying, especially the underlying sumi close to the tail and the fairly dark sumi almost on the lefthand side of the face.

As Colin said, sumi can surprise you and can go good or bad. I would probably not pay a lot of money because of the risks, but this koi might surprise, and because of the very good hi, I am keeping this one to learn and see what happens.

@ Costa, Sakai (SFF) male and a Hiroi male x Sakai (Matsunosuke bloodline) female. Can't say which male did it's job. Looks like Hiroi, looking at the dark Hi although the Hi on Sakai SFF also develops quite fast as opposed to the Sakai Matsunosuke bloodline(Isawa from the North of Japan/Tosia Sakai)

@ Neli, Spawned December 2010 = 16 months = 25 cm. Could be larger but came from an overstocked pond.

My showas are also from the Sakai matsunosuke line...from the west...
I can see the hi is very red...and the sumi is well developed. I dont know if it is the colored food they feed, or they are concentrating on developing a variety that looks finished at very early age. Heard they are trying to do that now.
When I say finished I dont mean that it will not become better with time, but it has the finishing touches of an older koi, prettier at an early age.

Hi Paul.
Nice little Sanke. Excellent Hi pattern. Don't worry about the sumi, let it go its way. The only thing I see wrong is the sumi patch on the gill plate, do you think this will go or might this turn the fish to Showa later on? Do you have photos of the brothers and sisters to? Very Happy

Well done Paul, looks good.I dont know about the sumi but i say let it grow give it time and lets see what it does.
Now you just need to start to mass produce them and you will have a local market.
