Going to be a very nice fish. Long term fish. Patience!

The two small hi spots between the first and second step is unpleasing at the moment but will clear hopefully soon.

Very nice body.

Hi Wayne.
This is a nice Showa! Excellent body shape, big mouth and a fat tail. Shasi and kiwa will clear up and I see a interesting face pattern coming up. Think this Showa will develop into a interesting and AWESOME fish! Smile

Its 47.5 now. When i got it last year July from you it was 21cm.

'Stamp sized photos', hahaha. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil You know Costa, im still going to be joking about this for a long time. When i originally picked it i scrolled through pages and pages of the small photos and i think this one was one the 3rd last page. I could not really see anything regarding quality or even its fins. I was looking for Kindai Showa at the time, so i created a shortlist of the kindai showas in all the pages. I basically picked blind and just went on the what i could see pattern wise. lol

It helps to make up once mind of what you want to buy before looking at photos, that way you restrict yourself and most of the temptations are taken away. Very Happy

Very nice Wayne, has a nice powerful looking body for such a young fish.

I love how positive the growth is on these sakuma fish, they really are my favourite at the mo, only thing is the hi takes a knock in the first 2 years, but consolidates when the growing slows down.

I have 2 sisters of this one in my pond, the one I received in September at 25cm and the other in January at 30cm and both are now around 45 - 48cm as well....hi looks stretched etc but the bodies superb.

Really nice Wayne!

Yes, I am almost 100% sure, did you get them from the jumbo tosai or normal tosai......you said 21cm which I would assume are from the normal tosai, so should definitely be from the same batch.

I have this standard rule i try and apply to Gosanke which i believe make a big impact on how one observes the koi. The fish must start with white and end with white. I do believe it rounds the fish off very nicely but unfortunately sometimes you find a koi with other good characteristics and it does not have the white nose and tail... Not sure if i have a good eye...time will tell.

I wanted a Kindai showa from you after i saw that stunning Kindai showa you at the show in 2010. Must be honest was very jelous when Colin bought it. Embarassed Was standing right there with the money in my pocket waiting for him to say he does not want it. Very Happy

Yes i believe you. Im a sucker for a nice small bright tosai.

Do you think it is possible to take small tosai like this and compete one day at SGC levels or is that just a dream? All the big gals at koi shows are often bought big. Is that cause its near impossible to get them that big and in good condition at that size in a concrete pond? I have managed to get tosai to 65cm in a decent condition but not sure if they will reach 75+ and maintain their condition.

I have a Asagi that i bought for R30 in 2006 at 18cm. Its now nearing 80cm, nice body and very calm fish but not the quality one wants at shows.
