According to the constitution, paragraph 7, the committee must be elected from the members:
7.1 The Committee shall consist of the Chairman, the Vice Chairman, the Secretary, the Treasurer, the Chairman of Regional Chapters and not less than 4 and not more than 8 Ordinary Committee Members, all of whom shall be Members of the Society.
7.2 The Officers and Ordinary Committee Members shall be elected by the Members at either the Annual General Meeting of the Society or an extraordinary General Meeting of the Members convened in terms of the constitution, and shall remain in office until the following Annual General Meeting or until a new Committee is elected by the Members at an extraordinary General Meeting convened for that purpose.
7.3 Where an elected officer or committee member resigns from the Committee or an office during his period of office, the Committee shall be entitled to fill casual vacancies and appoint such persons to such offices as the Committee may deem fit, and such person shall hold office for the period referred to in 7.2 above.
There was apparently an additional directive from SAKKS National at one stage that dealers may not serve on the executive committee. The definition of what constitute "dealer" is a bit of a grey area.
