Hi,

Think its male, cos at 32cm it should be pretty bulky, the hi on the sanke are also very rich which says male to me as well. However the pectorals look like they could be female.....oh the joys of koi keeping.

Otherwise very nice deep hi, the patter is also very nice, like the placement of the sumi, very nicely balanced and doesn't appear like it will get to heavy, if thesumi stays pretty much as is now I would be very happy. Going to have a very nice and clean head. Also nice clean pecs and dorsal. Tailtub needs abit of bulking up tho.

I think this will turn out to be a very nice sanke, I definitely wouldn't mind owning such a sanke.......where is it from, any breeder details you can share with us?

I'm guessing Ogata from Dream Koi??

Hi Cliff

Thank you for your comments, i really would like to know what is wrong with this fish, for the future.

Yes it is from Ogata, Dream koi.
If you say the red is very rich, do you mean the red is a bit too bright?
The tailtub , i can do nothing with, or can i do something?(like some food)?
I hope it is a female, they do have better body shape?

Thanx

When I say rich, I mean it looks nice and red and not too orange (beni)...redder the better....... also deep looks like the colour is thick, so wont fade too easily.

Tailtube you can thicken up by having a nice current in your pond, something they can swim against so that it strengthens the tailtube.

Females do have better body shape, however it's not the be all and end all.........males have won GC's and SGC's as well.

I've also only been in the hobby for about 1 and a half years seriously now, best hobby in the world!

My lknowledge is also limited, but can tell you that it has improved alot from when I started, you will also see. When I first came on here I thought I would never know what this is and what that is...too many japanese words I thought I would never understand....... however you just pick it up as you go along........quite awesome.

For someone new to the hobby you have an awesome fish to start off with!!!!

Karel,
Daai Sanke is beslis 'n mannetjie.

Maar daar is 'n paar tekens wat ons 'n aanleiding kan gee dat dit 'n mannetjie is;

Dankie Pieter

Dankie Karel

Ek kon niks voel of sien by die Sanke nie, maar was baie teleur gesteld in my Gin Showa.

Dankie
Karel

Well this is what I think and trust me I'm by far no expert. I think that sanke is going to become a Showa I can see underlining black on the head. I also think it will loose some of the red but hope not. And yes it is shaped like a male at the moment maybe it has been under fed how long have you had it?

Hi Angryant

I know the Gin is a Showa(the bottom photo), but i hope you are not saying that the first photo is going to turn out a Showa.
It is bad enough that it might be a female or change into a Bekko.
Both of them is about 2 years old and 32-35 cm.

Thanx
Karel

The first pic is a sanke....no chance that will turn out to be a showa.

Still think it will be a very nice sanke, think the hi just looks the way is does due to probably a spurt in growth.

Karel,

Hi there Karel yes it is the first sanke i think might turn into a showa it might just be the photo but if you look at the head were the red makes a little v there is a spot of under lying black also under the read it looks like it but could just be my eyes.

I also like the showa you posted second.

Thanx Guys

Just a pitty they are both male then.
Then it could be that all my fish are male.
Please dont tell me this Kohaku is also male.

SHE is also about 35cm and 1,5 years old.
What do you think of HER?

wow......she\he is purdy!!!

Very nice kohaku, has a little hi in the dorsal which isn't tooo bad. Was thinking the hi spots would be a problem, but when you look long enough they seem to balance the fish out nicely, would have done with out the hi spots by the tail tho.

Think it has a splendid pattern, love the face. Shiro looks nice and clean.

Lovely kohaku....ps...think this one is female....lets hope

Hi Cliff

Thank you Cliff, i also think SHE is quite nice, i would not mind if all the small Hi spots dissapear.

I really hope it is a SHE.

Miskien moet ek my Ogon en Chagoi vas maak as ek kos gee.

Dankie vir julle advies en raad, ek leer baie by julle manne.
My Ogon is 58cm, Benigoi is 50cm, Tancho Kujaku is 42cm en GinRin Showa 35cm(mannetjie).

Kan julle dalk vir my kometaar gee oor hierdie visse van my ook?

Hierdie Doitsu Showa is my eerste babatjie en ek sal haar nooit laat gaan nie.(55cm)
Sanke Chappy

Sanke HoneySep2010

Benigoi nie so goed nie, bietjie vet pens.(50cm)
Sanke Nemo

Ek dink die is n Tancho Kujaku.(42cm)
Sanke Sumo

Hi Karel

Three very nice fish, The doits is exceptional I like it very much,.

The Bennigoi is baie mooi niks fout nie, jy moet haar net laat spawn man.
