pond - My Pond (my paradise) Empty
PostSubject: My Pond (my paradise)   pond - My Pond (my paradise) EmptyTue Aug 03, 2010 7:31 pm

This all started when I seen a pond in Bez Vally at a friends house,
I fall in love immediately,
As years went by, I stated reading and GOOGLE- ing info on building of ponds finally came across Koicare and bought her book on building ponds.

And from there it all began. Just the hole took me more than a Year to dig as I dug most of it myself,
Everyday I used to come from work dig a little, I used to get help know and then, but most I done myself

End up with a hole 3m x 5m or somewhere there. 1.5m deep and a shallow section of about a meter deep.

Sorry some Pics are upside down..Photobucket is a PAIN.

And only after I buildt it I realised that i should of followed all the instruction on the Koicare book from Julie.
well i guess we learn the hard way..

Ill post pics of how i done the filter system, my DIY make shift system and the elephant.

Sorry some Pics are upside down..Photobucket is a PAIN.

Very nice and neat.....well done.

One question tho, I have always heard that when building a pool or pond to never have your corners or sides that meet at a sharp 90 degree angle. I see your is.....have you not had any leak issues?....How long has the pond been running?

Maybe someone else with a better know how can confirm or elaborate on this.

However, very very nice and neat

Hi cliff , the corners is one if the mistakes i made...but fortunatly no leaks yet, Its been running for 3 yrs know..I used a sealant from Cosmodec. a power and liquid that you mix together, and so far its woking just fine.

I also left out a weir and a protein skeemer..
so i have to clean the top surface every know and then...But I have made my out protein skeemer, It the same Green Monster that you can find on the DIY section on Koiphen Forum.

Thanks Pieter I will go and try those sites out.

thanks for all the comments.

FILTER SYSTEM...
Small but it works..

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Second bin has Brushes
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

from second bin to the pump.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

this is what i have 2 settlement bins , 1st one is empty , then water enters second bin with brushes, then pump sucks the water and pushes it to 2x 25L Bio-filters, then to a 30w UV and returns to the pond, but splits 2 ways and 1 passes a home made protein skeemer.
And it really works, No more foam on water.. cheers
