| Ek het die week die kohakutjie raak geloop vir R350 tussen 'n spul lelike cheapies. Wat dink julle. Niks op die foto is verander nie. Hy is net soos ek hom geneem het. Please give me your opnions about this little kohaku. |

| Hi Wayne,
How big is it?
I would have it in my pond any day, think it is really nice, looks very well balanced. Just not crazy about the hi in the pectorals but other than that think it was a real bargain. |

| Hi Wayne
I think that is a steal for the price. I like the stepped pattern of your fish, it seems to have a good kiwa and a ojime. Its just the hi on the pectoral fins I would be worred about, it is a young fish and must still develop but what is the chances of the hi going away ? |

| We wil have to see i guess. Normally as a fish gets older the colour in the fin pulls in closer to the body. Whether its going to happen here i cant say.
There is a orange smear between the two steps. I dont think the sashi and kiwa in that area is neccearily bad as the smear colour is only 1 scale in each direction (which is quite acceptable), the fish is still small and one can see that the seperation of the steps happened recently.
I use to worry about all those little things for show fish but in reality you will not get a 100% good fish and not for this price in anycase.
The most important things for koi shows are:
1. Body shape 2. Luster / Skin Quality 3. Colour Quality 4. Overall appearance 5. Pattern
Body shape and skin quality counts the most. If you can have the fish in good shape for the first 3 then you may already have a supreme in the bag.
The little things like red in the fins and pattern only become imprtant if you have 2 fish of the same overall quality...then the one with the least amount of demirits will win.
This is my first Kuchibeni Kohaku |
