I have nice rich red soil that I am giving away. About 12cubic metres worth. Hardly any stones as can be seen by the pics.

All you need to do is help pay towards the transporting of the soil which is going to cost around R500 - R600. That is a 50% cost share with me.

In the JHB area, near to Edenvale. I have a guy willing to transport the sand. The soil is clean, very good soil. SO if you have a big hole or pool that you need to fill up this would be perfect for that.

If you raise your pond wall 500mm out of the ground you can use about 30% of that as backfill and score a lot of extra volume.

Hi Cliff

Colyn is correct here. And you will have the added advantage that your pond sits a bit up out of the ground wind which will blow lots of dust, leaves and grass cuttings into the water.

If you take your wall a bit up as well then you bring your fish closer to your eye level.

Hi, my current pond that I will be joining to this one is already around 200mm out of the ground as you can see in the pics. So I will be raising this pond to meet that one in height. I enjoy sitting around the pond so dont want a pond that is too high and that when sitting I cannot see into it.

I have dug 1.7m down, then with the 200mm lift I am looking at a total depth of 1.7m (this after the 200mm concrete floor)

Also, the width of the pond is currently 2.5m, I am going to remove the soil that you currently see in the pics, then expand to around 3.2m width and then this soil that I remove I will be using in veggie bags around the pond to get the 200mm lift.

Hope this makes sense....thanks again
