Which is a better sealant, hydroseal or matcrete ??

I don't have experience of either of the products on you have requested info.
If you read through previous postings on the forum under "pond building" the info is contained in the threads. Read "Bobby's New Pond". He used a product which I believe is superior to many of the other commercially available brands. Go to website [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (I think)
On my pond I used a Sika product called Cemflex, but I'm not happy with the result

Sorry man I saw your posting but really also did not know what to say, as I was in the same boat as you, leaking pond. (I assume that is what you want to do or is it for the whole pond).
But now after the reply of jack am a bit worried. With the cold weather I have not yet done my repair.
A friend of mine does pond repairs and he swears by a product made by StonCor it is also a twin pack.
Just go on the net and check.

Yes you can just check with the sealant supplier different paints have different curing tempratures. Normally above 10c you wont have a problem it may just take longer to dry Beware of too much moisture though that is a problem, paint does not like it.

I know there are one or two koi keepers who are not impressed with Matcrete but I had great results not only with my pond but with about six other ponds last year. My pond was leaking two years ago due to faint cracks and so on so I painted Matcrete with a membrane and it is going to out live me. A matter a fact on a wall between my empty pond and the pond next to it which was full of water there was water coming through the wall. I put a first coat and the water washed it away at the a bit at the leaks, then I put a second coat and there was less leaking. With the third coat it sealed the leak and didnt leak after that.
Every one I know in E. L who has used Matcrete is HAPPY
