I did not think much of it after reading the article and to be honest found it a very difficult read as the author keeps on moving away from the point on how it works and keeps on throwing examples at you. I read the article twice and must be honest i dont get it, i cant see how this can work in a proper koi pond.. Lets hear what Chris Neaves have to say about it. Here's a link to another forum where people are discussing it. http://koishack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7473 |

| Anoxic filtration is the answer for people with limited cash supply, but also for all koi keepers in general, thats if u can think "out of the box",less hassle and easier management of your pond ,with a more consistent environment, you get healthier and happier koi thanxs for that source Chris ,hope its the right type. Wayne here s the link to check out . http://www.essexsection.co.uk/html/anoxic_filtration.htm read it a few times, thanks guys |

| i found this source on a aquarium site Animal Kingdom in the Hilfox Center in Johannesburg. I used a broken terracotta pot ,broke it lots more ,and added a little red clay soil from my garden works great ,after a month moved some lilies no bad smells at all.and great growth, definitely cleaned up my water quality alot.and that was just adding it to my small pond |

| Hi, this anoxic filtration has been mentioned a couple of times now and i have now asked a total of 4 times for someone to explain it. Can someone please explain it. This is not a trick question. This is not a trap! I honestly want to understand the concept behind it. What i have gathered so far is that one needs pots with grid and plants in it spaced out in a filter bay. Explain the water flow. Explain the filter bay setup. How does this clean the water? What is the grid for? What is the plants for? Is it a mechanical or biological filter? How does one clean it? How often does one clean it? Here is another link where it was mentioned. https://koionline.forumotion.com/posts-on-pond-building-f17/pond-expansion-filter-help-t1424-15.htmWayne |

| Hi, Ed, only saw this now.
I totally believe in this system and belive that if the principre followed and the setup is done correctly then it will serve you well.
Also, looking at the way our energy costs are going to soar then this is definately the way to go.
But then you know i am fully converted.
wayne, sorry i have not maile/pm'd you yet. I need to try and figure out how to explain it simply.
i can explain the setup to you simply, but the hows and why's are a little technical.
i will get back i promise, iam planning to build a model and photographing the stages as a means of descibing how to do it.
I think the biggest stumbling block to this is how easy it is to put the so practice. |
