| Okay so I have been trying to get better growth from my koi. I have had everyone give their 2c worth and I have done loads of searching on the net. The last month (April) I have had better growth than any month in the last 12 - with the effect that many due for the Baby Koi show have overshot their mark. This kohaku now 44cm was 26cm in Nov - he did 4cm in the last month. Sakuma kohaku with a beast of a body shape. The next two are also Sakuma 32cm and 34cm respectively The next one was only 25cm when received two months ago - now 32cm - Sakai Tomahawk - the one in the informal grow and show And here is a shiro utsuri that has grown 3cm in April |

| Shiro and Sumi is excellent. Nice body shape aswell. I guess female.
It can possibly be from the Takeda bloodline that is used by Phillip. If that is from a local spawning then ill be impressed.
If i have to guess il say it comes from Christie. Christie had some nice Masaki Shiro Utsuris in 2008. |

| Bob's that it is not - wish I could say it was. You guessed correct first time. Yes it is one of Phillip Millers - I dont think there is a local breeder to touch him with Shiro's - in fact his local fish often trump imports! |

| For those who wants their kois to grow real quick!
Scientists have conducted an experiment where kois which were subjected to violin music under controlled conditions, they found that those kois which listened to music grew as much as 18% to 50% more than kois under the same conditions without the music treatment.
In order for their test to be more vigorous, they put the kois that were originally the placebo group (no music) in Experiment 1 to be the music recipient in Experiment 2 and to see if they grow quickly too after listening to music like the other group in the first instance.
In both cases, those kois in the experiments which listened to the the violin music grew much more than those that did not, by as much as 18% to 50% more.
Fascinating!
Please see link: http://www.worldfishcenter.org/naga/...4-article6.pdf
Those who enjoy their music, may start thinking about sharing it with their kois and enchance their growth rate too! |
