Hi Admin,

Did you import another batch? Do you have any red kujaku? Any kujaku from Kaneko?

Thanks.

Yes, I did, but not Kaneko. I considered them, but their Kujaku's prices rised unreasonably.

Herewith the latest batch:

Conias = Hiroi

There are a few Kujaku's from Miyatora and I still have Kujaku's from Aoki.

Hi Admin,

Thanks for your reply.

I will go to the open day of your farm, and have a look at the kujaku you got.

Thanks.

We are now experimenting on all the cheap options to create ponds as our finances took a huge knock with all the expenses buying and developing a farm and the costs of importing Japanese fish.

Herewith my latest addition:

25 meters x 3.5 meters x 1 meter = 87 000 liters
Cost: Liner 250 micron x 2 (Double liner for in case) ( R1200) + Digger Loader ( R 795) = R 1995.00

15 meters x 3 meters x 1.5 meters (67 000 liters)

Smaller versions with proper pond liner (500 micron) @ R 120 a linear meter:

8 x 3.5 x 1 = 30 800 liters

Much cheaper than large portapools like these that I have set up: (R 4000 / 27 000 liters each)

The road building is also taking a lot of my time(and money):

A few more to come tomorrow when I will have 720 000 liters of liner ponds.

I can already see the difference in growth rates after I have placed my fish in 100 000 liter liner ponds:

The following fish show an increase of at least 3 cm within the first month:

The move to the farm was great.

Great sunsets

Piecefull and quite but still close to Cape Town:

But hard work (at least I have an extra hand from time to time)

(Could not get out because of the wet cement around this pond)

Thanks Phillip, we are open to the public every Saturday between 10 and 2 although still very unorganised.

The water is excellent. Good quality and 36 000 liters an hour from a borehole.

Looks great. Will definitely be awesome once complete. Excuse my ignorance, but when the mud dams are complete, are they self sufficient or do they still need pumps, filters etc.

It can be self sufficient depending on stocking levels but we do add a bottom drain and flush the bottom from time to time and do run one pump 24/7 for extra oxygene. Most koi farmers add airstones in stead of a pump.
