Hi all.

I have read somewhere that some people move the koi to a QT a week before the show when they stop feeding, they find out the water parameters of the show and try duplicate that to prep there koi. Another reason they move them is so they don't start eating the algie on the walls and this apparently affects the white on the koi. now this is were my question comes in as i don't have a QT, do you think it would be a good idea to brush all the algie off the pond walls 10 days before the show so they have nothing to feed on or will this just make the water quality worse. I am planing on doing a 10% water change every second day for the last week.

Thanks have a great day

Hi,

The only reason why Koi keepers stop feeding their Koi, is to prevent the pollution of their show-vat from Koi waste.
Algae is good for Koi, and will not effect them at all!

1. Rule Number 1 - Dont stress your fish before a koi show.
2. Rule Number 2 - if you want to move your fish or change your pond setup before a show see Rule Number 1.

Do nothing to upset them, just stop feeding thats it. Its winter now so you should not have much algea on the walls in anycase.
