| Ek gooi een maal 'n week 500g bi-carb in my dam. My ph bly by 7.2 in die dag en 7.1 indie nag.

| With the power cut today I spend some time taking random pond pictures via my pond window. Next I received a call from Dream Koi to say that the newest addition to my collection the " 2010 KZN Mature Grand Champion" will be at the airport tomorrow. At the same time my pond will also be the host for the lovely Tomahawk lady belonging to Erns van Dyk arriving on the same flight, whilst his filtration is being upgraded. Well I believe he want's to conclude the transaction before the Wee Pee beat the Sharks in Durbs in 2 weeks time. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| I have been in contact with the manufacturer in Norway and is researching the possibilities to add the CL10 to my pond. You can read comments of a very senior Koi Bito member re the installation of the CL 10 and I have notice that the current KZN Champion has an older version installed on his pond. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Protein Skimmer/Foam fractionator used in Fish ponds (Koi)Highly efficient in fresh water. The effectiveness of traditional Protein Skimmers/Foam fractionator in fresh water is restricted by the lower density in fresh water and therefore the ability to form small enough bubbles with enough surface area to attract the organic waste. Since Clarity is based on an entirely different approach, Clarity does not have this limitation. This results in superb efficiency also in fresh water and opens up many exciting applications for Clarity. Regulates the level of oxygen in water During the normal process of feeding fish and decomposing of organic matter, the level of oxygen in the water is altered. These environmental changes are not desirable for the fish and result in increased stress and unhealthy conditions. Clarity’s mode of operation restores the balance of oxygen in the water as part of the process of making the foam. Breaks down ammonia and nitrite to nitrate before foamingAs the water trickles down the airing tower, bacteria fastened to bio-rings decompose organic compounds to simpler, less toxic substances. The most important example of this process is the breakdown of ammonia to nitrite and eventually nitrate. This lowers the toxicity of the compounds and results in a more effective removal of organic compounds. | Hello Shawn.... you need a small low wattage pump to drive the CL 10, my concern is where to draw the water from in my set-up for the best results. |

| I have had more than one Pm's related to the Qt process of my latest Koi.
I would like to state that I do not recommend this procedure as a safe practice at all.
My decision is based on the following.
1. I have visited the pond were they originates from, more that once and have personally seen the Bio security procedures in place. 2. The Koi in question have been in the country for a year or two in the same pond. 3. To do justice to this KOI, QT facilities for this size Koi needs to be big and is not available to me. 4. Well one needs to have trust and know your dealer, reputation is key. 5. The pond they originate from is stocked with very expensive prize winning Koi and I really do not see the sense in this dealer taking unnecessary risks.
Having said all of this, I am still of the opinion that where ever possible Koi needs to be QT at home, before released into your pond.

Daarmee stem ek saam, en wel ook langer as 21dae, nader aan 40 dae,en as die vis in die Winter gekoop is self so lank, tot 90dae totdat die water temp. +/- 20*C is. |
