| Seeing I am a LG, Oubaas and a Oom I had to add a little bench for Ouma and Oupa on the stoep overlooking the aquarium. I purchased this bench about 2 years ago for a retail prop and it has been standing outside since, will give it a once over next year. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Hi Bobby If did not give you this present what would you have paid for it. Just an estimate will do per ton of water. I think it would help all koi keepers to do proper budgets for there pond builds or they can use it as a guide line as not to be ripped of by " pond builders" |

| Bobs this is the first time I have been on the site in a while and I am astounded by this thread. I have spent at least 2 hours following this post from the beginning - WOW!!! The detail and dedication are staggering, nevermind the pond!!I have so many questions but will take up way too much of your time. Congratulations it is nice to see hard work and planning rewarded - I would also like to see how this pond translates meticulous detailing into growth rates and superb water quality. Bobs, would love to see this baby firsthand - let me know when next you have a "tour-group" going through. Quinton |

| hi bobby
Compliments of the season to you.
quick question, what was your mixture of marbleine, in terms of volume? 2:1 per the liquid bottle of the mixture or 3:2 per the cosmodec website?
Thanks Haggers |

| Hi Haggers 2 to 1 mix
(x2powder and x1 resin) do not mix more than what you can use in 20 to 30 minutes, it gets hard very quickly. Remember to use a (hand mix) paste on any cracks and around pipes.
So far I am estatic with my results, Good luck with the application. |

I think it would help all koi keepers to do proper budgets for there pond builds or they can use it as a guide line as not to be ripped of by "pond builders" Hi Collin, I have enjoyed this build tremendously and did not want spoil it by adding up the expenses. There is so many added cost that a normal build with enough building space will not encounter. Walls that were build higher, flower boxes added, cladding of walls, the very high filter walls that a Koi pond build with space would not encounter. Due to my personal requirements for certain aesthetics it could prove to be viewed very negative by the next Koi pond builder. A pond build with no space constraints would be more cost effective, pipes can be added from outside the walls and does not have to be planned in the cavity of walls. You could avoid moving sewerage pipes, electrical cables, water meters ............ I feel strongly that a builder should not build a Koi pond without lost of Koi knowledge. Many little important stages will be lost in an efford to finish the build on time and quoted budget. One will not be able to add features after wards or should it be possible to add there will normally be a heavy price to pay that could have been avoided from the start. A Koi pond should be thoroughly researched. One should seek advise from other Koi keepers, decide on the method you want to implement and then plan accordingly. Building a pond by the seat of your pants could only lead to problems as there are so many ideas to choose from. You need to stick and thoroughly plan the method of your choice. The first and very important choice that will effect the complete plan and layout of the build will be between a pressure and a gravity fed system. Once this has been decided there are many very important decisions to follow. I chose to be owner builder and daily planned the next day's work and next stages to implement. Although I paid the workers per day they get irritable with the stop and start work on a daily basis. ( Have to stop and check levels, stop to check at which layer the next pipe must be added, stopped to check measurements for next phase in filter and so on and so on) Builders prefer to work or build a garage or shed were they can go ahead day after day without intervention. Although I planned and added lost of my features at night after builders left and early the next morning planned the days work before they arrived, this remained a struggle. I had to remind them a few times that any stoppages is for my account seeing I am paying labour per day. After all this I can gladly say that all the little features I wanted to add and all the levels that I needed to plan have exceeded my best expectations. So now I can sit back and enjoy the Pond. |
