Firstly excuse the crap around the pond but its serving a purpose at the moment to stop m dog from visiting my neighbors.

So two coats of coprox have been applied with light grey,i will still put down another two in dark charcoal.

You ill also notice the waterfall box's (veggie filters) are pained black i painted the inside of them with waterblock (i have only done one coat so far diluted 1:1 with water for better penetration) as the plaster work was a bit more rough inside.

I also got the filter area started:

Have also been busy with the entertainment area:

The brown dog in this picture is the jumper so to speak and the reason for the make shift barricades.

Still a lot of work left but doing as much as possible when time allows on the weekend.

Cheers

Hi Lee

Looking good - well done. Just one question? Did you seal off the 'Above water returns' that is visible on the July pics, or is it just the angle of the August photos that makes it impossible to see them

Thanks for the comment guys.

@marius - Thanks ja they are still there its just the angle of the pic that is misleading, you can see them in the second pic but they just like two dots a 1/3 and 2/3 ways down on the right wall.

Cheers Lee

PostSubject: Re: My DIY Pond Build   pond - My DIY Pond Build - Page 2 EmptyWed Jan 06, 2010 9:06 am

Hi

Its been a while, been doing hands on more than fingers on the keyboard. but my pond is done and has been up and running for about 5 weeks.

Unfortunately in the process i managed to submerge my phone which was also my camera, but will try get hold of a digital camera this weekend and take some pics.

There was some sum fun and games though, 2 of the flower box which were painted with 2 coats of waterblok leaked, i should have this sorted out by this weekend.( i have this on a valve so it been shut off and the ponds been running through other 3 outlets

After 3 weeks and a couple of water changes the ph level came done to 8, was previously on 8.5 after initial filling it. (This is largely due to hose down the pond walls and floor every second day for a month to get most of the excess coprox off before filling.)

Introduced the first 5 fish after 3 weeks (pond fish not great quality but suite my budget and descions to go through a season and get some experience before moving onto quality fish) 3 more the beginning of this week. (all fish are from the same supplier and are around 12cm or so with one or 2 exceptions.)

I do have a 15watt UV light in which i turned on, really only got included as it came with the one 25ltr bio filter, even so the water has also gone a lovely green shade after the rain this week, ph is unaffected though.

Fish are happy and are eating a mix of aqua master and shogun with crushed garlic. Im currently only feeding them twice a day and not very much maybe 3 pellets per a fish on average per feeding and make sure none is wasted. They still seem very skittish though and dart off after taking pellets etc, not sure if the introduction of 1 or 2 bigger fish will help with this ??

Nothing has been added to water at this stage and during the hotter weeks the pond was averaging 26.5 degrees a meter form the surface.

Ill try add some pics as soon as possible.

Any advice comments, always appreciated

Cheers
Lee

Indeed, thats next on the list as the pond gets alot of sunlight, but once patio roof is on i think it will be alot better, also got get my qt setup together, have the porta pool and pump etc. Just need to finish my patio and decking, then i can turn my attention pack to the fun part.
