I purchased this koi today. I got it at a fairly good price as she is 2nd hand and there is some damage to the one pectoral fin and a scrape on the gill plate but im confident that it will heal.

Hi Wayne,

You know that you will have to cut away the damage part on the pectoral fin, for it to heal properly.
The damage on the gill plate will leave a scar which will not go away.

As always it is difficult to judge Koi from a photo, but I noticed a few things.
The sashi on the fish should have stabilized by now, but an overlap of about two to three scales on both the Hi and Sumi is still present. Some Hi also bleed into the tail.
The Shiroji is good and I like the head pattern.

I think you paid too much.

The koi above was brought in last year january for much more than what it was going for now. Im happy with the amount i paid for it.

I will see what i will do about the fin. At the momment the showa is in my quarintine and im running the normal precautionary drills on her.
