IZIMO Koi Farm Expo at Cape Koi AquariumIn 2007, at 4 of the five chapter Koi shows held in South Africa, 4 koi respectively won honours as being the best doitsu koi on show. All four these koi were bred by Izimo Koi Farm.
Yearly hundreds of thousands of rands are being spent on koi imported from Japan. Yes, they are the best koi
breeders, but, the best koi is not always offered to the South African hobbyists or South African buyer.
The term Tategoi, a term reserved for koi with future potential, is often misused by many dealers outside Japan in order to
boost their sales.
My opinion as a breeder is that only the breeder of a certain lineage can offer tategoi because of his knowledge and history with such a lineage. Izimo Koi Farm, in conjunction with Cape Koi Aquarium is planning a Koi Expo 27-29 March 2009. On offer will be one, two and three year old koi. Sizes range from 30cm to a magnificent Soragoi cum Ochiba Shigure (8 years) of exceptional quality.
You have the opportunity to compare quality with prices. Many of these koi have the quality to compete against the best on our local shows. We also plan on sharing
our knowledge on topics such as breeding; filtration and pond building so please join us on the day.
