Ghost koi are basically "throwbacks" in a koi spawning meaning that the Carp genes comes through in some of the off spring.
Some breeders actually breed them by combining common carp with metallic koi.
They became actually very popular in the UK, and can have an interesting look, but normally quite colourless or with incomplete metallic shine, and varies in looks and colour.
Why do people buy them?
1. They are fast growers due to the carp genes;
2. They are normally quite tame;
3. They are more disease resistant due to the carp genes;
4. Most of all, they are cheap.
