| Bubbles this is possible.
As i understand Tosai are koi between the age of 1 and 2 years and not 0 - 1 years as many believe. Nissai are koi between 2 and 3 years. So it is possible that the chagoi can be a big Tosai. I have found that Asagi's and chagois grow a litttle bit faster but they only start to rocket once they reach 30cm.
Usually i buy tosai in the region of 14cm, i suspected that the small tosai is very young. After one year of growth they usually end up between 35cm - 40cm. I have a koi that was 24cm at tosai when i bought it and after 1 year it measured 52cm. |

I believe a Tosai is a koi that went through one growing season and a Nisai went through two growing seasons and it is not really related to age as such. |

| Ok, i got some clarity on these terms from the Koi-Bito forum.
A Koi in it's first year is tosai, a Koi in it's second year nisai, a Koi in it's third year sansai, etc.
Therefore a Koi 1 year and 3 months is nisai. |
