Hi
I have been offered a 2nd hand Koi pond for R15000.
3.6x2.4x1.3d. Built in settlement chamber
Spec Pump (0.45)and 3 bag Koi sand filter
Ultra Zap 55W UV light
25L Ultra Zap Bio filter
OR
I can modify my existing pond a little. I have been forced to move my fish to 'spare' pond due to a leak.

What are your thought re 'the deal'
Thanking you for prompt responses.
Rich

Hi
Its a fibreglass koi-konsepts 'koi deep' pond. I have had the existing concrete pond for 10 years now. But as you know...bigger is better sometimes. I cant put in bigger than 4x3 anyway. Building a block and concrete pond nowadays...will cost a pretty packet as well. I want to go deeper too. I am in Table View in the Cape.
I also can't find any damn shops for advise either.

Hi RichieRich

Sorry for the late reply. The forum is not as active as it used to be as you have probably seen.

The R 15 000.00 sounds good if it comes with all those equipment. The disadvanatge is that it runs with the old fashion sandfilter and pool pump.

For R 15 000.00 you can easily change your current system into a much better larger pond with a gravitation system and save a lot on running costs because you will be able to use low wattage submersible pumps.

With koi ponds, it is all about the costs of running the system after the electicity prices went sky high.

Hi Paul
Thanks for the reply. I eventually did buy the pond for R12500, Hired a crane and put it in about 30cm above ground level....didn't want run off entering pond.
The pump turned out to be a .75kW. I am thinking of 'wiring' both pumps up, so I can a) use less power, and b) have an instant backup if .45 decides to stop for any reason. Developed flu which lasted ages, still not right. I need to connect a lot of pipes to mix and match the existing setup (remember it was a 2nd hand system). I am trying to use the existing pipework. Bought new pipe at effast. Now either I am too weak, or something, but I cant push the fittings together-only goes into female connector about a cm?? Where does the glue end up if this is correct?
Should I buy a flapy sandpaper disk for drill and just ream the pipe a little for a better fit?
Someone's help would be appreciated.
Rich
