Fish only need minimal amounts of copper, e.g., to produce enzymes.
Toxicity can be caused by medication ( Copper Sulphate), anti-algae products, too high copper content in the bore hole water, or by COPPER PIPES. Copper is more toxic when the water is soft and has a low pH value. Copper values of 0,1mg or more can be toxic to Koi.
The younger the Koi, the more sensitive to copper. Harm is predominantly done in the liver, the kidney and the gills, which causes a decrease in oxygen intakes and causes the general weakening of the immune system
