| Blue Heron took three 12 - 14 Inch koi, including my favorite Kujaku and five of my 8 - 10 koi, including my favorite ginrin yamabuki. All I had left were my five Japanese koi they are 17+ Inches maybe they are now too big for the heron.
So I brought ten 6 Inchers in May and they are already 8-9 inches in August. They must like the weather and food in Dallas, Texas
I know you are far from me, but we share a common addiction.

| Hi Guys:
I just have to resize my pic's when I want to post. That was easy enough.
Thanks for the warm welcome.
My pond is a back to nature type pond. It is below ground and 3 1/2 feet deep 12 x 20 rectangular and the I have a 2 1/2 feet deep above ground octagon shaped 15 foot wide cement brick pond that is attached (pipe wise) to the main pond. I really had to shrink this pic, hope you can see it.

| Okay, I won't bother again for a while after I share my Dainichi Showa with you.
Her name is Tanaka and she is 3 1/2 years old. I will try to breed her next year with the ginrin showa in my avatar.
It might confuse you, her being showa, because of her face, but the large blocks of black she has, makes her showa and not sanke.
Look at her she loves the camera. |

| Thanks for sharing your pics,Koigal. Hope you've fitted a net to your pond. Many of us are using black poolnets-softer on the eye,and not so obstructive-yet effective. Tell us about your filtration setup. |

| That's so funny. I worked for a japanese company about 10 years ago and my manager's name was Tanaka and he was (hopefully still is) so nice too.
My flitration system is gravity fed with a vortex in front passing to a concrete 4x8 and 4 foot deep retangle with four chambers pushing the water under and over with a pump sending it back to the brick pond and main pond through three different paths.
Many babies are born and survive in there. I just cleaned it and got (6) five inch fish out of there. From April 30th spawning. Two aka muji, two white with a couple of red splotches and two ginrin. I love ginrins. Must be the girl in me.
My Japanese Koi spawned this year and I collected the eggs and hatched about 2,000 out but had arm surgery and could take care of them. By the time I could do anything they had eaten each up and I had 50 babies left. I sold twenty kept 12 to grow out in the brick pond and thru the rest in the main pond.
Well, I had one of those accidents and the 12 best I kept to grow out didn't make it. But I think I'm gona have four nice kohaku's and three hi utsuri's that I'm going to grow on and those ginrins too. I'll sell the other in Sept & Oct. and in Spring I'll decide which ones of the out grow I'm keeping. I'll try to get pics. |

Very good! And good to have another girl posting here..

I also collected some in the pond and grew around 100...I am building a new pond now...and brought a bit better Koi...Will probably build a new pond or use the old one to grow the babies...It is shallow. Did U see my ponds???They are here... My Japanese Koi spawned this year and I collected the eggs and hatched about 2,000 out but had arm surgery and could take care of them. I can not sale my babies yet....too precious to me...but people are asking to buy them.

| I resized some pictures to show you's my kohaku and hariwake butterfly but this is what the message keeps saying when I try to upload.
Could not upload file : exceeded total storage space. (Free space : 26)
I see other people with many more pictures on there threads. Why do I need storage space?
Any suggestions? |

| Hi Koigal, not sure, but think that the pics you may be uploading may be in a high res?
I am not sure on the setup, but if you could start by letting us know the size of the actual images you have uploaded in the past.....think it may be related to that? |

| Some of them were 216 kb (whatever that is) but I had shrunk it down from something that said 3200 down to 800 then the others I shrunk to 500 on the dimensions. But I don't know what I'm doing.
I've seen some threads where they have the whole picture on the page and not something you have to click on.
How do you do that?
If I delete the other pic's I've posted will that make room for more? Or can I even do that? Or maybe just do like a part 2 and open a new thread? Can I get new space that way?

| Thanks, I tried, but I can't figure it out.
It's letting me send pic of Fooniki which is suppose to mean - give you a good feeling when you see or look at it, in Japanese. I'm not sure if it's spelled quite right.

| Thank you.
I had to cover everything with plastic and canvas today. They will be spraying for west nile virsus for three nights.
I have boards and tarps and plastic everywhere. Looks like a hillbilly junk yard. |

| I am relieved to say none of my koi were affected by the arield spraying of insecticides.
September 1st. the Dallas Koi Kichi Club is having it's 10th year Koi Show. I love it, I get to see so many different varieties in real life all in one place.
Wet vendors are there and I usually get 1 fish. I'm going to try not to but I can't make any promises. |
