Bought this little yamazaki ochiba.....it's still small, just under 20cm

I liked the patter, think it could grow up to be a very nice ochiba.....your thoughts?

Hi Cliff
This Ochiba looks like it will grow big and I like the articulation. The pattern resembles what Ochiba stands for. Quite little face Very Happy

Thanks Tommy....the pattern is what I was aiming for initially so that it resembles as what you say, autumn leaves on water.

Would have liked one more little spot of brown on its left side next to the dorsal....but hey...thats life!

The reticulation for such a small fish is also very good.....makes me think it will just improve with age.

I think it's definitely going to be a nice fish to watch grow!

thanks again

I imported a box of Yamazaki Ochiba's a few years ago and they all developed very well. I think the one Ernst bought is now well over 70cm and stunning.

I hope your brown pattern is strong enough. Looks like it might break a bit. You might end up with almost Soragoi?

The brown on an Ochiba does what the Hi on Kohaku does, and I would have chosen larger brown patterns.

Scalation looks good, and the bloodline is there. Good luck.

Your ochiba has a nice body and thick tail tube, but pattern ????? Lionel has some nice pearl gin rin ochibas at R450.
I also got one yamazaki ochiba...Pattern not too good also...but a nisai. They did not have many large ones...just few to chose from.
Also got one gin rin tosai ochiba from Yamazaki.
