Subject: swollen cheeks Wed May 02, 2012 1:56 pm
hi all yesterday my 54cm white ogon was perfect. today her cheeks are quite swollen( frog like appearance). she is still extremely active and feeding well.no stress color and no parasites seem to be present. the rest of my koi are all fine.i have searched the web for help but unsuccessful. any help or advice. thanks in advance

Not very common that only the cheeks get swollen. No raised scales on the rest of the body? Pop eye? If so, might be dropsy.
Alternatively possibly a tumor, however, difficult to diagnose without a photo. Have you got photos?

hi Paul thanks for response. no raised scales or popeye.will post photos tomorrow.i was wondering if the bad lightning we had the other day may have something to do with it. just a thought.

Can U also try and check the condition of the gills. There might be infection or necrosis there.
