| Treatment for fluke transferred from another thread:
Hi Paul, Try Seponver Plus @ 4.4ml per 1000L pond water. Once only. I get mine at the local Co-op and it is the same as Supaverm which the Brits use. _________________ Jaco Vorster

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi,
I even used SeponverPlus with salt and had no problems at all. People having problems with “medicine” regarding Koi are those that fail to stick to the right dosage. It is easy to blame the treatment!
Quote: Treatment
When treating Skin flukes it is normally only necessary to apply treatment once. There are numerous proprietary medications which are designed to treat flukes. All with varying results. An alternative to these is to use malachite green and formalin at a dose rate depending on the strength of the solution, be sure that water temperature is above 11*C , between 11*C and 7*C considering the use of Potassium Permanganate
Doses: Once only Skin flukes: *Salt 5kg/1000lt together with 1g/1000lt Malachite green or * Malachite green and Formalin as mentioned above. * Seponver Plus 4,4ml/ 1000lt water * Potassium Permanganate 2,5 g /1000lt water ( mix Pot.P in a (plastic ) bucket with Hot water first)
Gill flukes: *Potassium Permanganate 1,5g/1000lt water ( mix in Hot water ) use (plastic ) bucket repeat every 5-7days over period of three weeks. * Seponver Plus 4,4 ml/1000lt repeat after 5 days – 2,2ml/1000lt
You can use salt 1kg /1000lt with Seponver Plus WARNING Never use salt and formalin or Potassium Permanganate and formalin together

| I have enquired from various people about the use of Seponver Plus, and I received very positive feedback as a treatment for Skin and Gill Fluke.
Seponver Plus is a mix of Closantel 25mg/ml & Mebendazole 37,5mg/ml
Apart from using it as a fluke treatment, it is also very effective treatment for internal parasites.
Mebendazole(without the Closantel) can also be used for fluke and internal parasites at 1mg / l for 24 hours or as a bath: 100 mg / l for 2 hours.
Supaverm: (same as Supaverm Plus but with less Closantel and more Mebendazole) The ultimate and most widely used medication for flukes. "Supaverm" is the trade name of a nematode and cestode treatment from Janssen Animal Health. The active ingredients are Closantel (5mg/ml) and Mebendazole (75mg/ml). Will not harm the biological filter. Very safe for use on koi fish. When used in pond water at 0.3% salt solution, Supaverm will kill 100% of flukes within 24 hours. Important Note: Supaverm will kill goldfish and several other species of fish. Not recommended for use on any fish other than koi (or long-fin koi) . |

| Hi All Has anyone used or heard of Flubenol for the treatment of flukes? Can you use PP AND SERPONVER PLUS, the reason i an asking is i have added seponver to the pond only once 6 days ago and noticed the fish still flashing.(doing scrape today to correctlu identify parasite). I have also added Fubenol yesterday but the fish were still flashing today. Can i add anything else like pp today,or will it cause a reaction./? I know i should first scrape before doing treatments Anver |

| Hi Anver, further to our telephone conversation, I have never used Flubenol. I see it is UK product and was used for fluke treatment before Supaverm came in. Tests were done and Supaverm was proved to be far superior.
As you know, Seponver Plus is our version of Supaverm.
I think that if you had a fluke infestation, they should be gone as you have treated with Seponver Plus. In my experience it kills 100% of fluke with one treatment.
You might have another problem. Lets first see what the scrape reveals before you add any further medication. |

| My supplier tells me that Seponver Plus has been discontinued. I also do not see it at the Co-ops anymore.
Does anyone have more info.
Apparently Albendazole has now taken it's place, which is from the same family of Mebendazole, the one active ingredient in Seponver Plus. |
