I have entered three Doitsu A koi of the same size at the George show, competing against each other. The results were not as I expected but I consider Jim Phillips and Mike Harvey as two of the top judges in SA.

One got first place, one got second place and one did nothing. How would you have judged?

When you have casted your vote, you can go back to the thread and view what other members have voted. I will reveal the results of the show a bit later.

Interesting, only 1 vote (6%) was in accordance with the judges.

No 3 got first
No 1 got second
No 2 got no placing

(312)

I really thought No 1 would get First. The Sanke looks much better than on the photo, so I was quite surprised that it did not get first.

This is really interesting. I guess it may be the body shape of then 2nd that places it third. The 1st (sanke) has some dodgy hi according to me but its body shape does look better. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Im ofcourse just guessing regarding whats wrong with number w but the 1st spot is so obvious, good body and hi color and Odome is very good. Pictures could be a bit better Wink cyclops

No 2 has got very nice shiroji and I like it's pattern, but it probably did nothing because of the poor bodyshape. I think this is a good example of the fact that bodyshape is often the most important deciding factor.
