Bloated fish Empty
PostSubject: Bloated fish   Bloated fish EmptySat Dec 04, 2010 9:32 pm

I need some help please.
I have a koi that in the last month has changed in shape and has completely ballooned. This afternoon I found her floating on her side due to the roundness of the belly. I helped her in an upright position facing the water stream pumping into the pond and she seemed to want to swim but with the being so bloated she just drifts.
Her underside of her tummy also has caused the skin to look as if there is a blood stain . The reason to the bloating could also be the result of the koi being egg bound.

There is no scales lifting from the body of the fish.

How do I go about aiding this fish with releasing the eggs?

If the fish is already floating (I somehow don't think it is due to eggs).

I think it is too late for this fish. To release her of eggs (if that is the problem) is a specialized technique.

Go have a look at the section on breeding there is some photo's

After we helped her in an upright position facing the water stream pumping into the pond she went down into the pond again.
