Dear all
I’ve taken the liberty to write this e-mail to inform you of the course of action our Western Cape chapter will be taking shortly. I’m not acting in any official capacity as I have none besides my passion for this hobby. I don’t have nearly all the members of the Western Cape chapters e-mail addresses so please pass this on if I missed somebody which I’m sure I did -I don’t even know if members on this mailing list are Western Cape members so please bear with me.
Just to let you guys know. Bobby resigned in September 2010 as chapter chairman – at that stage Jonathan had already resigned as Vice Chairman. An AGM was called late last year but only 5 members showed up so no quorum was achieved – therefore no committee was elected. Since then our chapter has been in limbo. Bobby has indicated that he will not be involved in the chapter any longer at any level in an official capacity. I’ve tried my utmost best to convince him to continue but he can’t see himself serving another term due to various personal reasons. I tried my best to lobby for support from other existing members so we can at least vote in a new chapter committee for 2011 but the silence for support and volunteers has been deafening. We will schedule an AGM for early Feb. Nomination and proxy forms will be going out shortly. Should we not receive any nominations (currently NOBODY – besides myself - has indicated that they are willing to serve in any official capacity – lots of members saying they will help when they can but no commitment) the AGM will probably be the last this chapter will have as SAKKS will not have any other option but to dissolve the chapter.
It pains me to be the bearer of this news but unless people are willing to commit time, enthusiasm and passion this will be the end of the line – one person alone can’t steer this ship – it takes a dedicated crew. So - no pond safaris, no baby show and not koi show. Never again. Sorry.
Happy koi keeping.
