| Hi all Just thought I must show you what happens when you show certain fish, The stress of the show changed my Hi Utsuri somewhat Very disappointed, but will do it again I suppose. Have a look at this website. http://www.koi4u.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=49&Itemid=47 |

| Sorry Neville, she really took a turn for the worst. Neville, Pieter very interesting article with many pointers for us hobbyist. Well this is also the reason for the following saying by Ernst. "Show me the Mummy" |

| Quite a drastic transformation! Can it - under 'ideal' conditions - return to the original markings?? |

| Hi Bobby
Yes, it is true about show me the mommy but you never have a guarantee at this level. This fish was brought in by Servaas de Kok, last year, I can unfortunately not remember the breeder but it was a well known name. I am sure the shimmies are stress related in this case as it already started to show on the Saturday at the show and in a short space of time after the show the fish looked like this.
Jack,
Unfortunately no, shimmies just don't go away. And if one reads everything that Pieter says there are so many underlying factors that I think you just cut your losses and run when this happens. This fish will move on, I don't have space for it. |

| Hi,
If I look at the “development” of this Hi Utsurimono, I would not describe the small black markings as Shimis. ( Small black specks, which spoil the appearance of the white or red markings on Kohaku or on Hikarimono)
As Utsurimono is a black fish, they often suffer from black specks on the Shiroji, Hi and/or Ki markings. This is generally a genetic flaw in the blood line of an Utsurimono as they become older.
I think this Koi is losing its Hi and will turn out nearly completely black.
