It is with sadness that I, today read the E-Mail I received from Robert Wagner on the passing away of his wife Carol.

My deepest sympathy Robert, May God carry you and your sons through this trying time.

Both of you served the koi hobby with great passion.

Carol was one of the most knowledgeable persons on Koi in the Western Cape with great passion for koi and was a great person.

The way that she stood by her husband as Chairman of the Western Cape Koi Society was remarkable, and she was always there for the members of SAKKS.

My deepest sympathy goes to Robert.

Letter from Robert:

"As most of you know Carol has been bravely fighting cancer for the past four years.

The Carol you have seen has not been the true picture no matter how bad she was feeling she would always put on a brave cheerful smiling face.

She has been on chemo non-stop for the last 9 months and that was tough, when she went for a scan after each chemo course but we only got bad news every time.

After the last scan she was offered the choice of stopping the chemo but Bruce is writing his matric exams and Carol did not want anything to happen before he finished, so she started the next course after being warned that this stuff would make her really nauseous.

Unfortunately that was not to be, on Saturday evening 6 November 2010 Carol very quietly took her last breath in my arms, even death could not take the smile away from my beautiful wife.

She gave me two good sons and the best 34 years of my life.

That smiling face I will remember till I die.

Robert"
