Hi Chris,

It is called a Kinporai.

In the book " Modern Nishikigoi" p 198-199................. is a good example.

Class under Hikari-moyomono.

Hi Pieter, from my understanding, a Kinporai is a Bronze Matsuba almost like the bottom one posted on the forum at https://koionline.forumotion.com/photos-of-the-good-bad-and-ugly-koi-f1/sumi-ogon-t217.htm

I would rather classify the color on this one as Gold.

Paul,

This is from the book............
Quote :
Kinporai are a brownish-gold Matsuba Ogon. The late Takehira Hoshide tried to breed excellent Ogon around 1961, Kinporai were very rare.
Kinporai look the most beautiful in the rain. These days gorgeous Kinporai are rarely found.
