Hey Lee,

Definitely would not class your bunch as mutts. Mutts I would say are half breeds and no name brands......your lot are definitely not eye sores.

Are you perhaps looking to achieve the same thing I am? I want nice, good fish in my pond, preferably go sanke's and utsurimono and possibly one or 2 other popular fish. I like buying small good quality fish in the 25cm or smaller range and possibly having them grow into either a show fish or a very very nice pond fish, where the cost paid doesn't necessarily hurt my pocket. Still pay alot more than your average pond fish, but where the possibility of it turning out to be something is there and the excitement of seeing that possibility.

Either way if it works out...bonus, if not then still have a very nice pond with nice fish.

I've learnt along the way, and where I would just have any fish in my pond I have since got rid of all of those fish and find myself now buying that 1 or 2 fish a month and slowly build up a quality collection instead of just having anything and everything.

However, very nice...I like your fish, they're definitely above your average pond fish stock.

Just my 2c

Hey Cliff

Thats pretty much the idea i just wanted to learn and get used to looking after the pond and fish before i move onto the more expensive fish, that said i still tried applying what i learnt when selecting these fish even though they all cheap pond fish.

The Pond has only been running around 7,5 months so i think later this year ill look at slowly upping the quality of my collection and getting rid of the lesser quality ones.

As for size i get the smaller fish mainly because i am limited to my current QT tank which is a six foot fish tank.

Thanks Pieter, got a long way to go and learn but will get there.
