I bought my first small Koi from this gentleman, about 9 years ago. Mike Milani, he was then working with the help of just one worker on his 400 Ha farm between Krugersdorp and Magaliesburg.
Well Mike is now 64 years young, and I mean young as he still does all his work himself. He does not have a computer, no cell phone, walks around his farm wearing shorts and gum boots.
Mike has completed ten ultra marathon's and numerous comrades marathon's and he looks fit enough to do another comrades anytime.
Mike is the owner of Maloney’s eye today called Corrilock. His wife runs a wedding venue and Mike, when he is not busy practicing his present hobby, street rods, runs the only koi form that I know that truly has a gravity system.
The water is brought in by canal from the eye and is then directed to various ponds from where it overflows into a large ground pond. No pumps are used at all.
Maloney’s eye was the first koi breeding farm in South Africa and the current SAKKS was formed on his veranda, some 22 years ago.
I would be able to carry on here for some time but I spoke to someone and maybe we will see a proper story on this Koi pioneer shortly.
What an extraordinary gentlemen.
Mike's new Love. What a V8 and the sound gave us goose pimple's
These are the pleasures Pieter and I derive from visiting the Koi people.
