| Heres just some group images of my latest purchases. Local bred fingerlings / tosai from Q-koi in Bonnievalue Imported Tosai from Omosako. I hand picked these. 3 are kois that look semi ok now and 3 are kois that i picked to see what they do in the future. (Lets call it school fees) They all have motoguro and very good shiro....pattern only the future will be able to tell us. |

| The utsuris where R350 - R400 each. They will be out of Qt on 25 April and they still need to go for KHV tests.
When i picked them i wanted.
1. Motoguro in the pectorals 2. Sumi on the head 3. Some sumi somehwere on both sides of the body. (Balanced) 4. The little pure white mark just infront of the tail fin. 5. No red markings anywhere 6. Sumi in pelvic / anus fins. 7. Sumi in the tail fins. 8. No yellow heads.

| Dave and thinus im glad that there are another koi hobbists that likes them as much as me. I always had gosanke but its only after one of my shiro utsuris started to blossom and Bobby pointed it out that i really started to love the variaty.
I am buying lots of shiro utsuris now to try and learn from the variety. I have read many things regarding what to look for and what to stear away from...now i want some practical experience. I have read up mostly about Omosako Shiro Utsuri and I want to see now if that what i have read has some merit or whether its hogwash.
I currently have a few local bred tosai already that i am watching and now im adding 6 Imports. I want to compare... 1 x local bred Omosako Shiro Utsuri from Q-Koi BonnieVale. 2 x local bred Mazaki Shiro Utsuri from Orient Koi Koi Farm. 6 x Imported Omosako Shiro Utsuri from Omosako Koi farm.
I also have 3 Nissai Shiro Utsuris. 2 x Imported Mazaki Shiro Utsuri 1 x local bred Shiro Utsuri (Unknown bloodline) from Kingsview koi farm.
The Mazaki koi farm also breeds with Omosako bloodline as i understand, So all the koi except the kingsview koi then has Omosako blood. |

| At this momment in time the top two according to me is the 2nd one on the left and the one in the top right hand corner. The other two koi in the top right are my school fee shiros...not sure how they will turn out...none of the sumi is up yet. My feeling is that the one in the top right hand corner is male (just a guess) seeing as its colours are bright and out at such a early age BUT the koi that has me most interested is the one right in the middel with the few little sumi spots on the side. It has the best white (shiro) of all of them...what will this little one do?
If i may be as silly as to try and draw a parallel to the omosako champion Musashi. |
