Help...think my fish is sick!!! Empty
PostSubject: Help...think my fish is sick!!!   Help...think my fish is sick!!! EmptySat Feb 27, 2010 5:44 pm

Just got back from the UK on thursday last week. I have noticed that my gin shiro is constantly at the bottom of the pond. He seems very lethargic in his movements, seems almost clumsy when he swims. I decided to catch him and have a look at him, he swam off quickly when I tried to catch him which appeared normal, when I did catch him he had some pink around the tail, in the tail fin, dorsal had pink in it and he's skin looked abit pinkish all over which I take is from the stress perhaps of trying to get away.

Anyway, my other fish are all eating and swimming normally, they seem as energetic as ever. The shiro tho just parks at the bottom of the pond, when I feed he comes halfway to the surface and if there's something to eat floating midway down he will eat it.....just that 1 and a half weeks ago when I left he was fine, now he just seems lethargic and more interested in lying at the bottom.

Anyone have any ideas??....Please help

Hi Cliff, tell me can he still rise to the water surface? I am just wondering if it is not a swim bladder problem, there wont be much you can do if it is.
Otherwise, if he does not realy eat anymore you have no other option but to give him an antibiotic injection. The pienkish colour is surface veins and in my experience sounds like fever and infection more than stress. Stress should show in his fins if I am correct.
If he was my fish: Baytrill or Gentamycin injection soonest just get the dosage right.

Hi Cliff Welcome back
I would be important to first do a scrape to be 100% sure what to treat for. Some of the keepers on this forum could also read a picture very good to help you quickly with visible skin health issues. Good luck with the recovery

I agree with Bobby, first take a scrape see if it is not parasites.

I would only inject with an anti-biotics as a last resort.

thanks for the replies, went to loolilocks yesterday to buy some anti bac. Treated my pond with that and seems my fish is a little more active. Spoke to the guy at loolilocks and he said I can bring the fish in for a scrape so might just do that.

Thanks again to all who have assisted here.
