To all the WCKC Keepers please take the time and enjoy the hobby with us without politics, let Koi be the winner.

I promise you I personally have gained valuable experience at these events in the past and met wonderful new hobbyist at the pond Safari's.

Our first Safari this Sunday will be a milestone as this will be the first official SAKKS pond Safari the past 2 to 3 years in the Western Cape.

Having said this, please remember all keepers are welcome to join us, members or non members.

Last but not least a very big thank you to all the Keepers opening up their ponds and property to us, it's appreciated.

Being very new to koi, I don't want to 'blog' on your dedicated page, but as a Gauteng resident, I must compliment the Western Cape on what appears to be a very active SAKKS Chapter. You guys seem passionate about koi keeping, and that is reflected in your communication and organization, especially when I see your intended programme for 2010.

Perhaps Gauteng does not use this Forum to advertise its many events - and if that should be the case - I do apologise, but this is the perception I have. I visit the SAKKS website from time to time, but am not inspired to take up membership. Daily visits to KoiForum provides invaluable information, and that keeps me in touch with my hobby. If someone can advise me that the Gauteng Chapter is 'alive and well' I will most certainly want to take up membership!

Nevertheless, I want to say your committee in the Cape seems to have your "ducks (and kois) in a row"!

Hi Jack, thank you for your kind words.

I believe Gauteng and the rest of the country is very active in their activities aswell. They are just a bit old school and dont want to use forums and emails and things like that to promote their events, that said i can understand their relactance as their has been some political nasties that has happened on public forums in the past - but one cant have the good without the bad....then you are just fooling yourself in the long run. The SAKKS website is a great idea, it must just be updated more often..

All the SAKKS events can be found in the KOISA magazine of SAKKS....But you must be a member to get access to it.

We in the western cape have decided to have all pond safaris open to the public so that we can promote koi and the western cape chapter openly. In that way we build our membership numbers and this forum thanks to Paul offers us the best platform for that.

All out activities can also be seen in KOISA. There are some activities for which you have to be a member like the koi shows but i think our formula is going to work for us going forward.

Hi All, please note that there will be no pond safari the 21st of February as i have not been able to secure more than 1 site. I have phoned a couple of members in the cape town CBD region but none can accomodate us. No one has made any offers either after my emails and forum posts.

I am trying to arrange something for the following weekend of the 28th but still have nothing finalised. I hope to have 2 ponds on the 28th.

I will keep you up todate.

Guys just remember to change the date for the Baby Show on you calender of events.

We have a pond safari coming up in the Wellington / Paarl area on the 28th of March.

We currently have 2 ponds organised.

1. Ernst Paul at Dimers fontein wine estate, Wellington
2. Arther & Lynette Schafer, Paarl

We visited Arther & Lynette last year at roughly the same time just after they build the pond. It would be nice to see how the pond has matured.

If anyone else in the area want to be the 3rd site then please contact me.

I will send out the official email with the addreses later this week.

Hi All

We have a pond safari this coming weekend on the 28th of March. We will be visiting two ponds in the Wellington and Paarl region. Because the first pond is on a wine estate i thought it would be better if we all arrive at the same time. I want to ask that we all meet at the Wine stop petrol station on the N1 in the direction of Paarl at 09:00. We will be leaving at 09:30 and will be driving in convoy.

No idea, i know Qulity koi stocked some Ki Utsuris a few years ago when they where still Platinum koi but i have no idea otherwise. Koi Online had some Hi Utsuris last year.
