pond - Pond gone green - sorted 24122009040k

I added another 3 bag koi sand filter and a 25L ultrazap and a 15w UV.

5days later and the pond was crystal clear again.

Hi Dan,

Trying to see how the sysem was plumbed.

I think you have gone from the pump to the first sand filter - ultra zap biofiler - second sand filter - second ultra za biofiler. Is this correct?

What is the capacity of your pond and what size pump do you have?

It looks as though there is a split after the pump into 2 and then each pipe to a SF. Pipes into SF are black

Well it goes: From the bottom drain to a settlement chamber.

Then to a speck .75kw pump

then sand filter -> ultrazap -> UV -> sandfilter -> ultrazap

then back to the 20000L pond.

Black pipes are the waste pipes. Will take some pics later, its bit overcast today.

Hmmm Black pipes are "backwash", filters are hooked up in series which i think is what Chris is trying to get at which serious hampers the flowrate, hence the question about the pump size.

Dan you should maybe look at plumbing them in parallel as explained here by Chris.

Dan,

this set up will be the best:

pump > split to > SF 1 & SF 2> SF1 to Boi Filte1 & SF 2 to BOI filter 2 > back to the pond
Remember to place a "H" connection between the pipes after Boi filter 1&2 back to the pond, before you split the piping to return/inlet pipes

yeah, parallel does seem to be the better option. Will get around to doing it soon. What's an H connector?

Dan,

It is a pipe between the two pond lines after the Bio filters and it helps to even the water flow to the pond.

Hi Daar

Ek sal self nog uitvind of dit so is. Ek het maar onlangs my nuwe dam gebou met my eerste SF filtrasie.
