60 000 Liter pond Empty
PostSubject: 60 000 Liter pond   60 000 Liter pond EmptyWed Jan 13, 2010 11:45 am

Posted on behalf of Christo: Replies will be appreciated.

Good Morning.

I want to explain my layout of my pond and want your comments please and I also need advice.

My pond is taking 60000 liters of water including my filter system. I build a wear in the lowest corner of my pond and inserted 5 x 110mm pipes feeding the wear surface water. The pond has 4 x 110mm bottom drains that gravity feed the wear. From the wear I have 2 x 50mm suction lines to my 2 x 0.75 kW swimming pool pumps.

1. The one pump is supplying water to:

- 3 bag Kio sand filter with Kio sand to a

- 3 bag Kio sand filter filled with Alfa grog to a

- 25 liter Ultra zap bio filter filled with bio balls to a

- 55 watt Ultra zap uv light to

- 2 x venturi’s in the pond.

2. The other pump is supplying water to :

- 3 bag Kio sand filter with Kio sand to a

- 3 bag Kio sand filter filled with Alfa grog to a

- 25 liter Ultra zap bio filter filled with Alfa grog to a

- 55 watt Ultra zap uv light to a

- Waterfall that is 1 meter high.

All my lines from the wear are 50mm.

My questions are:

1. Do I have a sufficient filter system?

2. Can I exchange the 2 pumps to one big pump to save electricity?

3. How many fish can you put in this pond? I have already 28 fish between 40 and 80mm in the pond.

4. Why do you see in big ponds like mine that people put “grass carp” with their Kio?

Any other ideas and suggestions and questions will be highly appreciated.

Yours,

Christo

My opnion, No!

It will reduce the water flow, and water turn over.

Under 50cm > 1000lt per fish, more then 50cm 1600lt per fish.
