| I personally love a Kohaku with one pattern stretching throughout the whole body from head to tail like a ligtning strike(Also called Inazuma Kohaku)
The balance is perfect, because when large, the white and red is going to be almost equal. (Fairly heavy but I like heavy patterns), and front to back and left to right, very balanced.
Some judges do not like a mask. However, I have seen Kohaku's with masks (red over eyes) win Grand Champion. Pattern is important when small, but by the time it reach maturity, pattern is not that important anymore.
Perfect adome (tailstop), deep hi, snow white shiroji, good kiwa and shasi and good body shape for it's size and the bloodline tells us alot. What more can you ask for.
I like it very much. |

| Love Inazuma - another good example above. Great pattern - love full pattern koi. Agree with Pual on balance of pattern for future - should balance nicely. Odome is not ideal. Red appears to be breaking up at back end - but I assume this could just be the photo. Pecs are not uniform - could also be photo. I have no problem with the mask - I enjoy the unconvetionality of it. Size is small for 15 months though - just need to push the feeding. |

22cm 15mths old, picture taken at 11months, Sakai bloodline Sorry correction. She is now 32cm. My initial thoughts was also that she is very small for her age. |

| Looking at the detail of the feedback, Paul you and Quinton should really attend the judges course in JNB (JHB for Pieter) and represent the Western Cape. Maybe you could also convince Drikus and Ernst to join.
Quinton are you ready to present our February monthly meeting or Pond Safari with a talk on picking Tossai ? The WCKC members can benefit from your experience on the subject of picking and the growing of Tossai. |

Hi Bobby, I applied for the course at the end of January but was rejected because I am "commercially involved" with koi. SAKKS and ZNA rules.

On second thoughts, I have not seen your's and seeing you are the keeper, Soutie's grow and show yet!!! Drikus and Christie measures my Hi-Utsuri after only 10days out of Qt and it's already now at 27cm. So Drikus and the rest of you the show is on, I have not even used my secret ingredient for growing this into a monster. |

| Hi Sorry Paul It was mentioned that you might be attending. Does this mean that you can also not attend the opening week-ends training? Well I am sure your knowledge must be on par with the opening week-end's training and that the full judges course is what you are really after. |

| Yes, anybody may attend the "koi appreciation course" over the weekend(30th and 31st at Monte Casino), but I don't think it is worth it for me to fly up for this course. Still considering. |

Is this course open to beginner hobbyists as well, or is it for the more knowledgeable? If so, I would like to attend. I see that on the SAKKS website applications needed to be submitted by end Nov 2009...or is that for the judging. |
